Sinha Founds Codec Development Firm; Sirius Is Client

A co-developer of the PAC codec, Deepen Sinha, announced the formation of ATC Labs. The company is described as an audio and speech technology development and services firm. Among its clients is Sirius Satellite. It will have its headquarters in Chatham, N.J.
Sinha will serve as president. He made the announcement during AES in San Francisco. Management includes chief technology advisor Dr. Anibal Ferreira, described as an expert in low-delay audio codecs, and chief scientist Dr. Deep Sen, an authority on the perception of speech and music signals.
The company said it is marketing a codec line under the name TeslaPro. It also provides product upgrade services to Sirius Satellite Radio for its PAC4 codec.
"The firm has focused on developing novel techniques for achieving high audio quality at very low bit rates, as well as 'low-delay' encoding and decoding, to provide new methods of real-time, two-way, high-quality audio communication," it said in a statement.
